The Real Thing

My beloved saw this in a recent newspaper and thought I would get a kick out of it. I surely did! Not even sure what a Kindle is, but from what I do know...I know it is not for me. I LOVE books. I love to read them, I love seeing them on a bookshelf, I love to pass them on to others who I think would love them too. Walking into a library or a book store makes me smile. There is something invigorating about opening a new book and smelling the freshly printed pages...and a book that is worn and torn, and even has a few tear stains on it is a great treasure. I find that the book is always better than the movie...so don't judge the book by the movie.
Books aren't the only real things that I prefer....
I like mail. REAL handwritten mail. FB is nice, email is great, but there is something special about someone taking the time to write you a note, a letter, put it in an envelope...and MAIL it with a REAL stamp! I am saddened that the Post Office will be going to M-F delivery only soon. It means that my surprise letters in the mail may be coming to a stop sooner than later. I was one of those kids that had pen pals, starting in the 5th grade. I wrote to one of them until I was 20 years old, until I lost her new address in a move. I have saved boxes and boxes of old letters, notes, and cards... from all kinds of people. Sometimes I will go back and read them, and remember. Just like a song remembers when...so can a letter....
So in case you haven't come to the conclusion yet, my favorite gifts are books and notecards...surprise surprise :)
Oh, and I like coffee mugs too, but that's only because of my great fondness for the stuff that goes in them...but I will save that story for another day..

He Loves Me Because...

...He just does. He loves me for no reason at all other than I am me.

I don't have to do anything to earn His love and I'm not going to lose it if I say or do the wrong thing. I don't have to convince Him that my heart was in the right place, He already knows. I don't have to plead with Him to understand, He already does. I can cry to Him and He doesn't think I am weak. He hurts when I hurt. He has felt the same sting of rejection. He knows the feeling of being ridiculed when all He was doing, He was doing out of love for them. I don't have to defend myself to Him, HE is MY defender. I don't have to prove my worth or earn my keep with Him. I just have to BE.

I know there will be more days like this when I feel like there is a storm cloud hovering above me, but no more will I allow myself to feel unworthy....rejected...unlovable....misunderstood...alone. Because no matter what man may do to me or think of me (and man being adult or child).....HE LOVES ME...and that is all that matters...
